Today we are having Valentines Day dinner at Shigatsu. It has been awhile since we have been here usually we request that the chef decides on what to make for us. The risotto was very good.

Misato

It has been quite some time since I have been here to eat. I was not disappointed. I like that they renovated the restaurant. Looks bigger. The Chicago Don and Udon lunch combo was yummy and good deal for $18. The fish was fresh and I like the sides they included in the Chirashi Don. Would be going there for lunch again

Harbour City CALGARY

This restaurant is closing in two weeks, and I was by my friends that arranged a special dinner.  We were delighted with a few of the restaurants renowned dishes.  The "Buddha Jump Wall" was the feature of the entire meal, although it was sharkfin the soup still had much substance within it.  The soup was had the seafood fragrant and a heavy tasting broth.  Unfortunatlely, kai lan was not in season fir this meal as it was thick and bit aged.  The fried rice was just right in wetness and taste, perfect for the last dish.  Lastly, I would have to admit my favorite meal is dessert; we had "Hai dai ye almond soup" and walnut paste soup.  Wonderful, I enjoyed it so much I took some home for my mom.

Percy's Birthday dim sum

Dim sum here is one of the better places in Calgary. The egg tart has a buttery tart shell that us a favorite of my son and the filling is my daughter's favorite. The sesame ball with lotus seed paste is not as good as the ones at Silver Dragon. The "Guai Dui" (stir fried rice noodle abd not hot, should have a steamy char effect); has no "wok hei" and the noodles stick together; would not recommend.

Caesar's Palace Bacchanal Buffet

Vegas is the second runner up for buffet and the lead goes to Macao.  This buffet at the Ceasar's palace is the newest and the most packed buffets in Vegas.  We did not want to wait in line fir an indefinit time so we chose to pay an extra $15 per person to go straight in without lining up.  It was originally $49.99 per person,  which is the norm for buffets.  Inside we had to about 15 -20 minutes to get freshly shucked oysters and hot crab legs.  This place had all you can eat ice cream mochi, macarron, sea salt caramel gelato, made to order crepes, japanese ramen, pho and many more goodies.  If you plan to hit onr buffet then this is thr one.

Szechuan Restaurant

If you come to dine here on a weekend or on a holiday, be prepared to wait 45 minutes to one hour for your; starting timing after you made your order.  This is a place that I have been going to for spicy szechuan foods.  We always order tge usual dishes and we prefer medium spicy.  If you have have not tried szechuan style spicy, look out; not only is it spicy it leaves a numb after taste that gives your taste buds a wake up call.  We had a spicy beef in a chili broth, there is a variety instead of beef, like fish or chicken.  Definitely, invite more friends to join you for dinner, then you can order more items.

Mandarin Oriental on Las Vegas

Always my favorite place to go to. I enjoy their afternoon tea and lunch. My usual for lunch there is the Kobe Beef burger, juicy meat and nice buns. We opted for afternoon tea for this trip and was not disappointed, there were Christmas carol singers. We watched the sun go down on the 23rd floor and sipped tea. I chose the jasmine earl grey and my husband chose the monkey pick. The little sandwiches were not as tasty this time, but I always love the scones with Devonshire cream. For the holidays they included in the desserts an eggnog truffle, that had a kick of rum! As always I am infatuated with macaroons and these were not too sweet and was a beautiful purple!!
